WELCOME TO THE PRACTICE
The practice is a long established partnership of five doctors offering a full range of primary care medical services at our modernised and extended surgery premises in central Letchworth.
The partners work closely with a full primary health care team of allied professionals including nurses, health visitors, midwives and pharmacists.
The practice is part of the East and North Hertfordshire Primary Care Trust.
SURGERY OPENING TIMES
| Weekdays |
8.00am to 6.30pm |
| Closed for training Thursdays between 1.00 - 2.00pm |
When the surgery is closed you may telephone NHS Direct, a 24-hour nurse-led helpline, on 0845 4647 for health advice and information, or the out-of-hours medical service on 01438 360965.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE SURGERY IS CLOSED?
Emergency: Telephone 999
Urgent problems that cannot reasonably wait until regular surgery hours: Telephone 0844 477 1796
When you telephone this number you will be given a choice to either contact NHS Direct (details below) or to be connected to the Out of Hours Service to consult with a health care professional commissioned by the PCT. You will usually be expected to attend an out-of-hours centre for a consultation.
Health advice and guidance when we are closed: Telephone 0845 4647
If you need advice or reassurance concerning a health condition call NHS Direct, a
nurse-led telephone helpline.
We ask all our patients to be thoughtful about calling out the doctor outside normal surgery hours.
PRACTICE TELEPHONE SYSTEM
Our telephone system was introduced to help reduce the number of patients who where unable to get through to the surgery. Although a reimbursement is received from
the phone providers, the system costs the practice more.
As at 1st February 2008, BT standard call charge for 0844 477 numbers during the day is 4.25p exc. VAT per minute (compared to 3.36p exc. VAT for a local call
number). This means from a BT line, you will be charged an additional 0.89p per minute. Call from mobiles and other providers may be higher.
ACCESS FOR THE DISABLED
There are two parking spaces for the disabled situated to the left of the front entrance. Access to the surgery for disabled patients presents no problems and
there are toilet facilities for the disabled available on the premises. We also have a mobile hearing loop for use at the reception and during consultations.
CAR PARKING
Spaces are limited at the front but there are more spaces at the rear of the building, which can be accessed via the service road between the police station and
the health centre. The spaces at the front of the building are for doctors' parking only. Do not park in or obstruct these spaces. Do not obstruct the entrance onto the building forecourt - this is in constant use by the doctors and sometimes by emergency vehicles.
